Happy Dogs

Dogs of all sizes generally have the same mindset. Understanding this mindset will allow one to train any dog that they choose. However, if someone doesn't understand the mindset of happy dogs, there is still hope. This article contains helpful information on understanding how canines think.

Training should be about rewards and discipline with dogs not punishments. If your dog does not follow the correct behavior, instead of punishing him, gently teach him what to do instead. Training sessions help build communication with your pet, and help you build a good relationship.

Let guests know the proper way to interact with your dog. This type of behavior can lead to your dog misbehaving by jumping on people or your dog attempting to establish dominance.

Although lots of breeds get along with other dogs in training, whether or not you can train your dogs together is really up to their individual personalities. If this turns out to be the case, train your dogs separately so they both get the most out of their individual training sessions while you save yourself plenty of time and frustration.

Making your dog feel secure enhances his loyalty, which will make for a better trained dog who will want to please you. If your dog feels anxious, he may experience separation anxiety, engage in fear biting or develop another type of unacceptable behavior. Work with your dog until he feels secure and confident. Do not throw him into experiences which he cannot handle.

Keep your dog's wants and motivations in mind when training. You are also learning about the personality and tastes of your dog. Offer your dog different training regimens, positive reinforcement and lots of love while training him. The happy dogs are the better he will perform for you.

You need to leash train your dog. Think of the leash as a safety requirement.

Keep the dog outside when you leave to prevent him from chewing on household items. If this is impossible, close doors or put up barriers to any rooms that contain appealing items, and remove any other objects that you do not want it to get hold of.

Learn how to give the dog positive reinforcement in training without using treats. Giving dogs treats to learn new behavior does work. However, you probably are not going to have treats on you constantly. Giving your dog physical attention and praise will reinforce his positive behavior, as well as save you money and him calories.

You do not want to over-stress your new pup by trying to teach him too much too quickly. You need to keep your training sessions short so that your puppy pays attention. Your puppy will happier with the experience, and less resistant to your future efforts. He will be looking forward to them instead.

You will get the most of your pet training if you try to understand how your pet thinks. If your dog doesn't understand you, then how can he learn from you? Make sure to tailor the training to a dog's specific personality.
